Highbridge Film Festival

Real Life Experience

Highbridge is a film festival that Asbury University hosts annually in Hughes Auditorium. The event screens the best of the best films student filmmakers have to offer. Highbridge represents the prestigious Communication Arts program, the students, and the faculty.

I started this class as a Hughes team with my partner Embrey Flenner. We were told this team usually consists of four people - one doing lighting, one doing decorations, one dealing with talent, and one dealing with video playback during the live broadcast. We both constructed the lighting and decorations plan together. We also both held host auditions and picked a pair of hosts. Lead engineer at Asbury University, Dave Grosz worked with us throughout the process. The original plan was going to assist talent and stage-manage during the live show. I was also planning on going to work on setting up decorations and do the lighting.

However, things quickly changed because of COVID19. Embrey and I became a part of the webcast team with a few others and we began constructing the live broadcast. This meant picking a new host (a local one) and constructing the entire rundown of the event on Rundown Creator. We were able to build an entirely new show in a matter of weeks. I was honored to be a co-producer for this live production that reached over 4,000 people across the nation.
